During the two-hour long volunteer session, volunteers will sort and quality check baby and toddler items at Room to Grow's warehouse in Hyde Park. The exact project that volunteers work on is dependent on what recent donations were received, but examples include sorting toys by age and sorting clothing by size and season. Note that due to the warehouse setting, volunteers must be at least 13 years of age, and must wear closed-toe shoes.

Day of Service - Community FoodBank of New Jersey Add Day of Service - Community FoodBank of New Jersey to calendar

9:00 AM to 11:00 AM

6/1/2024

Event Details

Come join fellow Dartmouth alums, family and friends at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ), the State's largest anti-hunger and anti-poverty organization. The event is co-sponsored by Women of Dartmouth and the Dartmouth Club of Suburban New Jersey.

Potential projects include sorting and repackaging food for distribution, as well as assembling family packs and senior boxes. Food sorting involves lifting and bending so volunteers should be prepared for this. Children must be 12 years of age or older and accompanied by a parent. For teenagers, this is a great way to earn volunteer credits and support the local community. Dress is casual and comfortable but remember that the warehouse is not temperature controlled. Questions can be directed to either Sherry Cai or Joe Dempsey, or obtained from CFBNJ's Volunteer FAQ's.
