It was so exciting to host our first in-person Irving Institute Advisory Board meeting in two years! Nine members of our board joined us in Hanover in early November, while the rest were able to participate via video conference. Our board members continue to inspire me. They represent an incredible resource for the Institute and for Dartmouth. Their insights, experience, and dedication are so valuable and we are deeply grateful for the time and thoughtful care they put into helping us advance affordable, sustainable, and reliable energy futures for all. It was a true gift to spend time with the group — whether in person or virtually — and gain their insights and feedback on our progress and vision. (We also had the chance to show off our nearly finished new home on the West End of campus! We're happy to share a brief video recap of that tour here. Thanks to Institute Communications Intern, Sebastian Fernandez ’23, who filmed and edited the video.)
And finally, we held the virtual dedication ceremony for the Institute's new home on December 2. The event was a wonderful opportunity to express our immense gratitude for all of the support, effort, leadership, and vision that has gone into making this beautiful facility a reality. You can read more about the ceremony below. We're looking forward to welcoming you all into the new building in early 2022 and hope that we'll see you at our winter term events — final schedules to be posted soon! ~ Elizabeth

New Energy Justice Clinic Gives Dartmouth Students Hands-On Experience in Supporting Equitable Energy Transitions
During the winter and spring ’22 terms, Dartmouth students can gain hands-on experience in supporting communities that are seeking socially just energy transitions through the new Dartmouth Energy Justice Clinic.
Created by Assistant Professor of Anthropology Maron Greenleaf and Dr. Sarah Kelly, post-doctoral scholar in the Anthropology Department, and supported by the Irving Institute and Dartmouth Center for Social Impact, the clinic will focus on two projects over the next year. The first supports the Town of Hanover and the Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire in developing and implementing “community power,” in which communities collectively purchase renewable power. The second clinic site is in Futawillimapu, which is Mapuche-Williche territory in southern Chile, and will support a water-energy justice court case involving Mapuche ancestral territory rights.
