From the Director

We are a few days away from our inaugural conference, Investing in Our Energy Futures. Next Monday - Wednesday, May 3-5, we invite you to virtually engage with us and more than 700 participants from around the world who want to focus on topics related to the fundamental challenge of our time: how to triple our investments in sustainable energy to provide adequate access to all people while also meeting climate targets that ensure a habitable planet for future generations. We're excited and honored to welcome more than 40 of the world's most foremost experts and leaders from across the energy landscape who will engage on these critical questions and share their insights and perspectives on topics ranging from finance, to policy, to social justice and energy access. Whether you join us for a single session or for the full three days, we invite you to come and hope we'll see you at the panels, fireside discussions, topic tables, and chats taking place on our virtual conference platform. And if you haven't registered, there's still time to do so at dartgo.org/EnergyFutures. See you next week!

Three Days of Insights, Ideas, and Connections: Investing In Our Energy Futures Conference

From Monday, May 3 through Wednesday, May 5, the Irving Institute for Energy and Society's inaugural conference will offer participants a chance to virtually engage with critical challenges around the future of energy. Co-sponsored by the Revers Center for Energy at the Tuck School of Business, Investing in Our Energy Futures will bring together more than 40 world-renowned leaders in science, engineering, finance, and public policy. They'll address, from multiple perspectives, the range and depth of investments—human, financial, and technological—to seek solutions to four broad strategies:

Investing to meet both increasing energy demand and climate targets
Fostering emerging technologies amid the changing fossil-renewables mix
Advancing social justice and global energy access
Developing energy leaders

“Bringing together the best and brightest of minds actively at work on this problem sets in motion the core principle of our institute," says Elizabeth Wilson, Irving Institute director. "We view advances in energy technology within societal factors driving—or impeding—transformation of the industry."

We're excited to be using the Hubilo platform to host our online conference this year. Hubilo is a web-based tool that not only allows us to broadcast the many conversations taking place during the event, but will also facilitate virtual opportunities for attendees to network and converse. While Hubilo isn't complicated to use, we do recommend logging in ahead of the conference start (Monday, May 3 at 1:30 p.m. ET) to explore, set up your profile, add sessions to your calendar, and see who else is attending! Registrants should have received an email with information about logging into the conference site. You can also find instructions here.
